John baptized for repentance, and Jesus was baptized by John. I understand why, but if John did that type of baptism, wasn't it by sprinkling instead of immersion according to Jewish customs?

The Bible is very explicit regarding the fact that baptism is a necessary part of obedience to the gospel. It is also explicit that the gospel must be obeyed (Romans 2:8; Romans 10:16; Galatians 3:1; Galatians 5:7; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; Hebrews 5:9; Hebrews 11:8; 1 Peter 1:22; 1 Peter 4:17)

QUESTION 16:
Acts 2:38-39 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." It seems to me here that to receive the gift of the Spirit, baptism is essential.
