SALVATION QUESTION 150

QUESTION 150
Does the Bible teach a general resurrection of all, at the same time?

ANSWER:
I don't suppose there is a more common belief than that, but the answer is emphatically "no." This is traditional teaching which is not found in the Bible. The Greek word "ek-nekroo" translated in English literally means, "ek==out, nekroo=dead." It is used forty-nine times in the New Testament. It is only used of Christ, and the resurrection of the saved.

This resurrection is very clearly stated in Revelation 20:4-5, in which it does not occur at the same time for others. It states, "But the rest of the dead LIVED NOT again until the thousand years were finished." Revelation 20:5. There is at least one thousand years between the resurrection of the just and the blessed, and the resurrection of the damnation of the wicked. In John 5 there are three resurrections in view. Two are physical, the other is spiritual. "...they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." John 5:29. "The hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live." John 5:25. This is a spiritual resurrection whereby a believing sinner passes from death unto life. It is explained here, "...but is passed from death (spiritual) unto life (eternal)." John 5:24. It is stated here again, "...that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust." Acts 24:15.

Have you had the "now" resurrection, we all need it, NOW? "...who were dead in trepasses and sins:" Ephesians 2:1. This can be gained by hearing His word and believing the Father who sent Him. John 5:24. "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17.

Trust Him. He loves you and He died for your sins. You can be saved today. "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and that thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Acts 16:31
