SALVATION QUESTION 191

QUESTION 191
If I live my life for the Lord will I not go to heaven when I die?

ANSWER:
There are at least two thing wrong with this belief. First, you really cannot live your life for the Lord. You are too selfish and sinful to do it, if you could.

Even your motive of trying to live for Him to get to heaven is a selfish self-centered one. Secondly, If you could do that you still would not be saved. It sound like the right way, but Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."

There is one thing that will hinder you from getting into heaven, and that is your sins. There is one thing that will send you to hell, and that is your sins. All the efforts you could make would never take away on sin you ever committed. The devil has the world, at large, deceived by this theory of getting to heaven and a better life beyond.

Jesus came into the world for one main reason, and that was, "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins" Matthew 1:21. The only way He could save you from hell to heaven, was to save you from your sins. This is why He had to die on a Roman cross and bear the judgment of God for the sins of man so those that repented of their sins could be saved from them.

Many people profess to became Christians that do not really trust Him to save them from their sins. They want to be saved from hell and go to heaven, but they need to be first saved from their sins.

There are two aspects of this salvation that the Lord Jesus Christ provided. First He saves a person from the penalty of their sins. This mean they are saved from hell. They will never be brought to judgement and hear those fateful words, "Depart from me, for I never knew you" Matthew 7:23. Jesus cannot saved you from hell without first saving you from that which will sent you there.

Let me ask you, Are you saved from your sins? Have you repented of your sins? Have you trusted Christ alone for this salvation?

Secondly, He saved from the power of sin in this present evil world. Galatians 1:4 "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father." This verse is not saying that He saves from the penalty of sins, but the power from day to day.

Are you being saved day by day from the power of sin in your life? You can be if you repent and trust Christ completely for this salvation.
