SALVATION QUESTION 193

QUESTION 193
If heaven is a perfect place, who then can ever go there

ANSWER:
Heaven is a perfect place. Revelation 21:1-4 describes it as a place where there is no more sorrow, pain or death. That is rather difficult to grasp, but it is true. Revelation 21:27, And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lambís book of life.

It is Godís desire that all go there. 1 Timothy 1:4, Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. He takes no delight in the death of the wicked, Ezekiel 33:11, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live:

The problem is that if God took us into heaven with our sins then it would not be a perfect place any more. Since we cannot undo our sins and could never make ourselves perfect, we are helplessly and hopelessly lost. This is why God has made a way for us to be made perfect by the sacrifice of His Son for our sins. Listen to this good news, Hebrews 10:14, For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. We can be sanctified (saved) by the one offering of the Son of God for our sins on the cross.

First, we must acknowledge our sins and truly repent of doing them, This means that we do not want to continue doing sins any more. It is not reforming or trying, but acknowledging them and wanting to be saved from them. Next, there must be a complete trust in the Saviour and His sacrifice for those sins. Paul puts it this way. Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 20:21.

What about you? Are you going to miss heaven and end up in hell? It is repent or perish Luke 13:3. It is trust Christ or no salvation Acts 16:31.
